What makes a job advert compliant

  • State the salary or a pay range for the role — not just "competitive" or "negotiable".
  • Use a gender-neutral job title and wording, and make clear the role is open to everyone.
  • Do not ask candidates about their current or previous pay.
  • Explain that pay is set using objective, gender-neutral criteria applied to every candidate.
  • Keep the advert accessible and free of criteria that could indirectly exclude a protected group.
